Why a Contract?

The main reasons for a contract is to protect the puppy, the buyer and the breeder.

Contracts lay out all expectations regarding the puppy being purchased.  What the breeder is responsible for, what the buyer is responsible for and to ensure this puppy will not see the inside of an Animal Shelter for unwanted pets.

Contracts should be reasonable and not over burden a buyer with excess requirements and stipulations, yet protect the pup and the Mastiff breed in general.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this contract, please feel free to contact me for clarification.

Contracts are not meant to intimidate the honest , rather to help the breeder keep dishonest puppy brokers away.

My Contract Story:

Twelve years ago I purchased a show dog from a well known American Staffordshire breeder.  This breeder and had several renowned Am Staffs in the show circuits. I felt with all his wins in the show circuit, with all his gorgeous looking dogs in the top magazines, he had to be a honest breeder, right? WRONG!
Needless to say, I had a 14 mos old Am Staff shipped to my house, where it promptly bit my four year old son in the face out of fear (hence, I never strayed from the Mastiff breed again)
This well renowned breeder of Champion dogs refused to believe what I told him about his dog. I shipped the dog back within 48 hours. He promised a replacement puppy that never materialized, eventually after a year of negotiating I received less than 1/3 of my money back. No dog, lots of pain and a big lesson learned.

Hence, contracts protect all parties involved, buyer, seller and most of all: the puppy
